For my Golf Course Review of Kriel Golf Club I have played this course a couple of times now & enjoy it more & more everytime I go back. Although only a 9 hole course the positioning of the tees makes every hole play completely different. The best part of the course is the wildlife roaming the fairways.

I felt welcomed on arrival and found getting around the course was nice and easy. There were good caddies and the changing rooms and Pro shop were both superb. The course has an excellent putting green and equally good practice range which is all surrounded by great scenery and the atmosphere around the course is brilliant for golf. The tees were good as well as the fairways and greens which were also very good. There is great course bunkering and course yardage marking throughout the course and I rated the cleanliness of the course as 9 out of 10. I had a timely tee off and kept a good speed of play during the round. The 19th hole is excellent and I think the layout and design of the course presents a real challenge for any golfers playing the course. For my Kloof Country Club Golf Course Review Summary I really enjoyed playing this course and I feel it is brilliant value for money.

When doing my Golf Course Review for Msauli Golf Club I felt that it is one of the most beautiful inland nine hole courses in South Africa, but it belongs to the local community and they do not have funds to maintain it. As part of a community upliftment project, nine companies are needed to each 'adopt-a-hole' for a year or two, until the club becomes self-sustaining. Pay a nominal monthly fee and place advertising boards on that hole. Please contact me if you are in a position to help. brianivor @ telkomsa.net

Was a great experience, except the wind was blistering!!!

It can be a bit difficult navigating the course though.

Greens were a bit dirty on some holes from all the twigs and leaves being blown onto it by the wind, and also some players were not fixing their pitch marks.

There's a special on Sundays for non-members, which I think is fantastic.

The whole experience made it easy to get into the game of golf, because most other clubs tend to be purposely unwelcome to beginners.

For my Golf Course Review of the Graceland Golf Club I found it to be a very nice links golf course close to Gauteng. Greens are very good and the bar and halfway house facilities are very good (if a tad pricey - like most casino resorts are). The course lay-out is very good and there is a lot of risk/reward holes (short par 4's and going for the green in 2 on par 5's). Lots of fairway and greenside bunkers like a true links course. A would recommend the course for anyone, but would probably suggest you rather go and play it in the summer as the conditioning of both the fairways and tees will be much better then (due to frost in the winter).

Beautifull layout and the wildlife on the course in not shabby either (in one round we saw Giraffe, impala, warthoggs, hippo's, crocodiles and to many different bird species to mention. The course is in reasonable condition - I spoke to some members and apparently they had problems with water (broken water pumps) a coupleof months ago which knocked the condition of the course. It is almost back to what it should be. I would love to go back and play it again in six to twelve months time. There is alot of challenging holes and you have to think your way through the course. Well worth it to rather walk the course than use a cart as it is a great walk and you appreciate the scenery and wildlife even more. The 17th hole is an absalute gem over a dam with hippos and crocs lurking and one of the most beautifull short holes onany SA course. The course poses a good challenge to even low handicappers whilst a high handicapper can still enjoy it. There is a few risk reward par 5 holes where you can go for it in two risking landing in the water. A must play course for any keen SA golfer. Proshop is a tad overpriced as is the meals at the restaurant/halfwayhouse. The drinks is well priced at the bar and even the drinks cart bringing you drinks on the course. There is some upgrading and renovations on the go to the entrances, buildings, etc. which should make the facilities even more impressive. I will be back in years time for sure!

There are plenty of caddies available for use and the changing rooms and pro shop were both very good. The putting green was excellent and the scenery and environment surrounding the course is very nice and pleasant, as well as the atmosphere on the course which is perfect for golf. I had a timely tee off and played with a good speed during the round. The layout of the course presents a true challenge to golfers playing it and the 19th hole is very enjoyable. The tees, fairways and greens are all great along with the very good course bunkering and course yardage marking which are also fantastic. In summary of my Wingate Park Country Club Golf Course Review I think this course is good value for money and I rated my overall enjoyment of the course as 10 out of 10.

From arrival to departure - AWESOME.

Arrived and as you get close to the Clubhouse you get got stopped and your golf bags taken out of your vehicle, only to find them as you enter the pro shop, never seen this at any golf course. After the round, they clean your shoes and golf trolley (the wheels) with the help of their air gun - this is the reason why don't see grass left by the shoes in the clubhouse/bar. When you come into the half way house, there is a designated area for the golf bags to be placed - which is a great idea - seeing you don't have fight through all the golf bags and carts to get into halfway house. Staff is very friendly and helpfull!

The course itself I could not fault, stunning greens, fairways and tee boxes. One can really see the pride that is taken in their COURSE. Clean, and green. The atmosphere on the course is relaxed and friendly.

Course itself presents a little bit of a challenge but I have played more challenging courses. Wide fairways - but go off the fairway and the beautifull matured trees will challenge you to either - try and go for green or take it safe and tap out to the fairway. Choosing the first option, stike the ball well = no problems, mishit ever so slighlty = BIG trouble.

Yardag marking good but can be better as they only have marking in the middle of the fairway - at least there is markings.

All in all - can't wait to visit Royal Cape again!!

It is a challenging and well maintained golf course.

You really don't have to hit Driver on each hole, as it is better to play for position. But you need to play there a couple of times to know where to play for.

I was playing with scratch golfer & I am off 5 handicap. I was playing some of my best golf, and managed to shoot 80 (off Gold markers) scratch golfer shot 75. Between the two of us we made 6 birdies.

Cant wait for my next round there... i love the challenge.

The practice facilities is world class. Booking as well as tee off times are well organised and managed. The course is in great condition. Elements presents a true test of golf. We played from the back tees and the course makes you think on every shot - you can not just blast from the tee with a driver everytime. Course is very challenging and if you miss fairways on the wrong place you might as well reload from the tee. The fairways are in excelent conditions and the greens are the best I have played on to date. They are true, fast (11 on the day we played) and receptive. All the par fives are a true test of your golf abilities and the scenery and layout often leaves you feeling as if youre fourball is the only one playing on the course even though the course was quite busy. Nineteenth hole as well as half way house was very good and the view from the clubhouse bar area over the course is fantastic. I enjoyed the course and would recommend it to anyone who is in the area to make the effort. Only drawback was getting there. The road to Elements Golf Course out of Bela Bela is fine when it is tarred, but when you hit the dirt road it is not good at all. Watch out if your vehicle has not got proper ground clearance or if it has been raining.

For my Golf Course Review of the Malelane Golf Club I had come from Norway on a holliday and was really looking forward to play in south africa.
The Malelane golf course had excellent service, friendly and helpfull staff. the course was fun to play and we were very pleased with everything until i broke an 7 iron. They didn`t have one for sale in the PRO shop but lent me one.
On the way back to our lodge which is a cross the street of "Leopard Creek " I asked if I could get to the PRO shop to buy a new one (Iron 7).
No way was I going to get any help from them, I was alost thrown out of the reception and back in to the street .
I was correctly dressed according to their dress code so i will not recomend any of my friends or travellers to even go close to this place.

Enjoy the pleasures of our sport at Malelane and are you lucky you will get Nicklas as your caddie, he is good

It is a well groomed well run course. After all the rain I found it a real challenge, as the rough was extremely thick, so even if you are just off the fairway, your next shot is very difficult.

The fairways at Pretoria Country Club were superb, the course well manicured. With all the rain the greens were forgiving. Still the toughest course in Pretoria. A good challenge.

The course is in almost perfect condition. The greens are top quality and well maintained. Pity about some damage to a couple of the greens - looks like some impala or the like must have come from the adjacent Nature Estate and damaged two of the greens slightly. If not for that I would have rated the greens 10 out of 10. Greens are a fantastic pace and very receptive. Course is a challenge to all types of golfers without being either to easy or to difficult. We had golfers from 36 handicap to single handicappers in our fourball and everyone enjoyed the challenges the course posed. Course is open with wide fairways, but a lot of strategic bunkers both on the fairways and close to the greens. Facilities are top class and the course should be quite high on anyone's "must play" list. No problems booking at the Vaal De Grace Golf Estate and person at pro shop very friendly and helpfull.

Nice pub and facilities and the greens are in quite good condition (Bent Grass greens). The fairways are however in a bad condition in some spots as you struggle to see where the rough ends and the fairways start. Might be all the rain. Another distracting feature is the fact that the driving range is right next to the first tee, and when you want to hit your second shot on the first hole, you need to make sure it is your ball as it is lying amongst a hundred or more practice range balls (it could take a while to find your ball !!!).

Well looked after course, Greens are in the process of "fixing" but are still playable. Some nice and challenging holes, water being brought into play is awesome and a quit a few of the holes as well! Lets not get started on the bunkers!! Good layout with the bunkers which can quickly make it a very difficult hole to finish.

Fairways are in good condition, tee boxes in fair condition. Good Value for money and will definately be returning for another round!!

Looking forward to visiting Kuilsriver again!

The course is the venue of the 2012 Nomads National Tournament. During my Golf Course Review of the Port Shepstone Country Club I discovered that it had a Fantastic layout that is easy and very challenging at the same time, Play the course conservatively and you will score good but no fire works, attack the course with aggressive play and you will soon notice the tree, mangroves and narrow fairways. There are very few fairways where an errant drive is not punished thoroughly.

The first nine is tree lined with narrow fairways and small landing areas, this nine gives protection from the wind. The second nine is separated from the sea by a road and a railway line and plays like a links course. If the NE wind is blowing the par 5 stroke 17 can easily become a par 5.

The course is thoroughly enjoyable and is a stern test for any golfer. The halfway house disappoints with almost no variety or healthy food available. The prices seem a bit high for a country club as all the pubs in the area seems to be cheaper with both their food and drinks than PSCC. The old gentleman in the pro shop can easily offend as he appears a bit abrasive, I suggest ignoring him and get on with a round that will be remembered for the right reasons.....enjoyable golf!

Unfortunately the facilities around the clubhouse are not the best and I rated the changing rooms as 5 out of 10. When it came to getting out on the course there was a slight improvement but we had a very slow round and the Tee's were in poor condition. The conclusion of my Crown Mines Golf Club Golf Course Review was that it fun course with some difficult challenges and the 19th hole is nice as you can actualy afford a drink.

The course is definately not better than Bellville Golf Club yet they are more expensive. But that is my opinion - and I'm not affiliated or a member at Bellville.

Back to the Golf:

The course is in good condition, tee boxes need to be repaired or swapped around more often. To many divets on the tee boxes, especially on the Par 3's where one needs a nice tee box.

Plenty of bunkers - litlle bit of water. Fairways are nice and green with a couple of GUR but nothing serious.

Trees and scenery on the course is really something to admire together with the views of Table Mountain. The course rough is REALLY rough - once in the rough it is very difficult to get back onto the fairway - makes it interesting though.

Breakfast at Halfway House was not to bad, nothing really exciting - but the food came very quickly after order was placed.

I expected more from this course seeing the hype around it from a lot of people!!

Don't think I will play there very quickly again.

Worth Every cent.

Greens are nice and soft and can be misjudged very easily. Yardage Marking can be improved on - color marking not always ideal.

The Dam is a bit low, but WC Rainy season is upon us so levels should go up nicely again.

Challenging cours for beginners with couple of easy holes followed by more challenging ones.

All in all - I can't wait to play Devonvale again.

The Greens are in superb condition, slope as it should slope, fast but not over the top fast.

Don't like the fact that they water the bunkers in the morning - makes it very difficult to get into the sand, and they do have plenty of bunkers. Even the rough is more sand than bush or rough as it should be.

"Wildlife" on the course was really awesome - enjoyed watching them as you wait a couple of minutes for the 4 ball in front of you walking off the green on some of the Par 3, corse speed is fair+ but not as smooth as it could be.

Still hade a good time on the Course and will visit again.

The course is neglected and needs a lot of work. And is been this way for the past 2 years, makes you wonder what they do with the membership and visitors fees. It is definitely not worth playing and even more paying for a round of golf at Leeukop. Is a shame, I think they are losing all their members.

The highlight for me on the course were the greens and I scored them a 10 out of 10, the fairways were good and the general layout of the course is excellent. Simola is a resort course accessed via a small turn-off just as you enter Knysna. This small road winds up the valley getting ever higher. Ignore the first Simola gate which leads to their residential developments. The main entrance is at the top of the hill. In the car park you will be greeted and your clubs taken from you. The course is very new and does require time to mature, but it is very much worth the visit with the Jack Nicolas design being excellent as usual. The 2nd tee shot into the valley is memorable. We got a green fee discount through our local B&B. Recommended

This is another resort course, but what an experience! Located just outside Mossel Bay and 5 mins off the N2 motorway where nothing prepares you as you enter the car park for what you are about to see. The visitors car park is a 10 min buggy ride from the clubhouse so make sure you take everything with you. There are some seriously steep cart paths and its terribly exciting and that's even before you get to the 1st tee! The clubhouse is perched out on a point, almost in the Indian Ocean. If you struggle to get cleanly off the tee (at least 100m) then be sure to bring a bucket of balls with you. But you won't mind as this is a true golfing experience and you'd kick yourself if you didn't play it. Some of the best (and frightening) par-3's I've ever played. There are plenty of short 330 yard'ish holes, but don't be fooled as they play 430 yards with the elevations involved. A must play if in the Garden Route.

The greens did not roll well and the ball skidded across the surface, rather than rolling consistently. The 18th finishes just in front of the clubhouse, so no slicing into the bar! Good value for the green fee.

Pezula is situated on one of Knysna's "Heads". The road to the hotel/clubhouse leads up from the lagoon basin and past the Knysna GC to the clifftop. Upon parking your car you are warmly greeted by a chap in a buggy who takes your clubs and you are directed to the clubhouse nearby. Be sure that you are properly warmed up as the first hole is stroke-1 and the second hole is really tough, too. Buggies are compulsory and when you play the course you can understand why that is. Some of the cart path inclines are exciting to say the least with stunning views of the Indian Ocean at every turn. Often long carries off the tee are needed. We got a green fee discount through our Knysna B&B. Highly recommended.

This is a nice parkland course on the outskirts of the pretty university town of Stellenbosch. On entrance the road leads steeply up to the clubhouse. Do not panic! The course is relatively flat and is walkable if the temperatures allow. Some holes look like they've had some development over the years. Pretty views towards the back of the first 9. Off fairway the ground was very powdery and extremely difficult to get a good strike from. Good stocking filler if on tour.

This is yet another course within a residential development. The opening hole is a tough par-4 that requires a very long drive to clear large trees that restrict your second long-shot into a difficult green. The front nine's character is flat, but the back nine becomes quite hilly, so take a buggy if you need it. Other than hole 1 the overriding challenge of this course is not off the tees but the approach to, and putting on, very challenging greens. It will be an excellent test of your short game.). One or two holes have been designed with the majestic scenery in-mind. Located not too far from Somerset West (False Bay. Recommended

It is parkland and a flat and easy walk through mature trees. The clubhouse has an old-world feel which is quite nice. Excellent caddies are available and are inexpensive (NB: they never miss-read a put!). Situated in an exclusive residential development outside Cape Town with its own, small, and exclusive hotel and vineyard is Steenburg. Caddies are available and are inexpensive and they greatly add to the enjoyment of the round. This is not an easy track where shaping the ball helps or being ultra-straight off tee and deck. Throughout the vineyard encroaches offering pretty views of a working farm with a backdrop of the hills behind. Some water features make certain holes important to get clubbing right. Yes, it is more expensive than other courses in the area of similar quality, but this shouldn't put you off. Recommended.

This course is just a few minutes drive NW of down-town Cape Town. We played this course as our first upon arrival from the UK where we hadn't been able to play for weeks due to snow. Milnerton's Pro greeted us warmly and asked where his Melton Mowbray pie was (he's originally from Leics). Off we tee'd not having hit a ball for so long and the sun was beating down hard. The views along Milnerton beach on the first few holes are gob-smacking beautiful. Table Mountain is clearly visible and said that we had truly arrived in RSA. The round was slow being almost 5 hours. The residential development that appears on a numbers of holes has been poorly positioned and meant that on one par-4 the men tee'd off far in advance of the ladies tee. Only slightly errant shots would end up on someone's patio. The half-way house was a very quick visit as we were rudely ousted for members wanting to tee-off on the 10th (NB: slow play wasn't our fault, chaps). Anyway the course is a good warm-up track if you haven't hit a ball for a period of time, so play it early on your tour.

This is a Jack Nicolas design and will cost you a pretty penny to play (it was 20% more expensive than any other of the 14 courses we played in Western Cape). But let's put the green fee to one side as we have travelled 6,000 miles to play here. The welcome is 5-star and you are treated 5-star. The practice facilities are marvellous. The greens very quick. The course design is 5-star too. There is not hole where JN hasn't made you think, "...how am I going to get to the green?". You have to plot your way round this track. There is no rest. As a championship test this was the best we played in RSA. Maybe not the most dramatic scenery, but a must if you've travelled a long way to the wonderful country. A must play.

This was one of the courses I was truly looking forward to playing amongst our 14 others. The hour-plus journey from our base in Stellenbosch seemed a worthwhile investment. In the reception area they declared themselves in the top elite few courses of RSA. Having played it and many others in the Western Cape I can say that we were a little disappointed. Sure there are some nice holes along the estuary, but many of the other holes are simply dull. Sorry, but this course wasn't in our top-5 of the 14 we played.

As with many newer tracks in RSA this course meanders through a residential housing development. But do not let this put you off. The set-up of the course was almost like striking the ball off the hallowed turf in Scotland (except a wee bit warmer). The opening hole welcomes you with a wide fairway that gently gets you into the swing of things, but thereafter more tricky features come into play and the wind starts to take its toll. Springbok dance across the fairway which reminds you that you're in the southern hemisphere and not the north. Extensive waste areas come into play on a number of holes as well as fynbos (RSA heather and scrub up to 6 feet high) that gobbles up stray balls off their line. The green fee is good value and only 30 mins drive north of Cape Town. Highly recommended

An average 9-holer that you won't go out of your way to play, but a fun course for a 4-ball wanting a easy drive away from the city centre. Some holes are good and use a slight hill to create uphill and sidehill shots, but the course is fairly straightforward and the 2 lots of 9 holes are not vastly different from each other to be really interesting. Be sure to go for the right green when playing 9 and 18.

Or perhaps you'll drive to Hermanus. Either way, if you're in the area for a few days then Kleinmond is worthy of at least 9 holes of your time. The course is clever in design and uses the lower slope of the mountain-side to good effect. A stream that runs through the courses comes into play often and whilst Kleinmond is not very narrow, stray shots may result in penalty drops for those to agressive or off-line. I'm not sure I'd drive to Kleinmond from Cape Town for a round, but if I was staying in Betty's Bay, Pringle Bay or the general area I'd take my clubs with and try squeeze in at least 1 round.

It's way to busy in the Dec/Jan holidays, but if you have the inclination an overnight stay during non-peak times at a local B&B and all 27 holes is a great time out. With 27 holes it's easy to get on the course and with the friendliest Pro Shop in the Western Cape your needs are sure to be accommodated. The design is clever, challenging and ultimately good golf is rewarded. Weak golf will be found out by the tricky green complexes, but the course is playable for all levels.

The question to ask with 9 hole country courses is: "who plays there?". Locals will enjoy their home course and visitors will be spending time out playing the game they love because they love it. Caledon golf course is not a course that you will get in your car and drive an hour for, just as Caledon is not a town you are going to go out of your way to visit. Enroute to the Garden Route you'll fly by or alternately you won't get past Hermanus where Arabella and the Hermanus course are available. But if you're planning a visit to the casino and/or spa and have your evening mapped out, then a round of golf either early am or late pm is always on the cards. Don't expect a well-watered, well presented, defined course. Enjoy the lay-out and perhaps only play 9 holes. It's not a good course, but it's not that bad either.

In that case you'll find a friendly, well designed course with good use of doglegs and a comfortable outing. Follow the snaking doglegs or cut corners the choice of risk makes for an interesting test and I would recommend you find place in your car for your club if you're going on holiday to Agulhas or Arniston.

With trees lining at least one side of every fairway it is possible to be on the fariway, but have to shape your approach around an infringing tree. With that in mind make a point of looking at future holes as you play and try work out where you may want to be later. The par 5 8th has water fronting the green which is not easily visible from the fairway so think carefully before playing.

But don't let that comment put you off playing the course. The clubhouse is outdated, but not likely to change some may prefer a drive into town instead of eating at the course. If you're lucky though, take up the offer to be part of festival week where the braais are started early and there's lots of meat and beer.

The course presents well, is always in good condition (other than when it's really wet) and is a fair challenge to both good and weak player alike. Try play there in the March to May period when the tourists have left, the wind has dropped adn before the rains start - it's perfect.

Set in a retirement village, don't expect fast pace play, but don't play slowly either. This is a comfortable walk with a fair amount of sidehill golf and slope to be taken into account. It would be fair to call it short, but narrow and if you put your driver away and play intelligently you can go low here.

Ideally one wants to be coming up 18 around 18h30 and then get a nice early start at 06h30 the next morning, so where else would you stay? DV is a good course that is worthy of a visit. Perhaps too many holes set up for a draw of the tee meaning slicers may get frustrated, but overall the shot offerings are good and the test is fair.

The Boschenmeer 9 is distinctly different to the Paarl 18. The tree-lined fairways are replaced by housing estate and many will say this detracts for the other 18. Visually this may be so , but from a technical perspective the Boschenmeer 9 is arguably better with more interesting and stronger holes. Aim to high edge and let the sidehill run return to ball to the middle.

This is irritating rather than serious, but the flow of play is not good.

I'll be honest - I played this course January 2010, so it has been a long time since i've been there - this review is based on January 2010:

The course needs plenty of work, fairways are in bad condition, the rough was easier to play out of. Greens are hard giving extra bounce where not wanted/needed. It is however a challenging course with lots of trees that can cause you to loose a ball very easily.

If they can get this course in good condition it will acutually be a pleasant golf course!

Very well looked after golf course, stunning greens, awesome fairways and bunkers not so forgiving.

People are friendly yet very strict which is needed on a golf course.

Would recommend this course to anyone looking for a relaxing game of golf!!

For a little town like Darling they really offer a healthy golf course! Uncle Wally can tell you stories in a manner never thought possible. Always Friendly and full of jokes.

Course does need a bit of TLC but bear in mind, it's a small membership and for that they are doing extremely well. Clubhouse is in the process of renovations. Greens are a bit hard, but still playable. fairways are nice and evenly cut. Rough is mmmmm well it's rough!! Water hole is challenging should you get your shot wrong!

Caution though - becarefull of this course in the Summer, on a good day it can become EXTREMELY hot!!

The Pro shop was not in full force yet. The halfway house requires a bit more of a better mood (staff). There was one particular gent on the course (whom we believe to be a marshall), who got upset with us and a bit agerssive... He told us to hurry up in a rude way, WHILE WE WERE WAITING FOR THE FOURBALL IN FRONT OF US TO GET TO THEIR TEE-SHOTS. I said to him, "I hope you're joking"... and he got even more rude... He's lucky he didn't get a sand wedge wrapped around his neck.... Overall, lovely course, crap staff and management. Over priced...

Even though it's around Jozi, it's got a sort of Bushveld feel to it. The constant change of elevation and blind tee shots makes this course challenging. If you're a long hitter do not be too tempted with the driver. Play percentage golf and you'll finish with a good score.

Given it's a new course I think it's beautiful. With a good season or two's rainfall this course is more than likely to climb up the rankings.

The work on the N12 Highway detracts from the peaceful setting but that hopefully will be over soon! The course is in such good condition from all the lovely rain and the wonderful friendly pro-shop staff give you a great welcome! There are some really challenging holes which make the course a really enjoyable outing - the 4th and 9th I relish and the 11th is a challenging little hole like the 15th. The 17th is such a tease off the tee and the 14th too! A super course and a great outing. Enjoy!

This course is in its best shape now for a long time. The fairways have benefited from the good rains so no improved lies - a first for a long time. The greens are first class and consistent. There are a few tees that could be leveled but generally good. The bunkers have suffered from the rain - not consistent and rather hard. But playing here is enjoyable and good value for money. The staff are friendly and Darren the new pro is trying hard to establish himself. Stay on the fairways because the rough can be rough! Thoroughly recommend a visit. Good Course, good condition, good prices and good pub! Enjoy!

The course is well maintained with excellent greens and fairways. The Pro's Shop is well stocked and all the Club's staff are very welcoming and helpful. The course is set in the Paarl Valley with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. It has an excellent 19th. The Club is highly recommended.

When visiting Paarl I always stay at Alba House B & B which provides superb, relaxing accomodation and is extremely efficiently run by Ivana and John Decker. They are the most welcoming and hospitable hosts and go out of their way to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. John is a recent ex captain of Paarl GC. Alba House is located high up in wonderful gardens with perhaps one of the largest swimming pools I have seen in a private house and is within a 3 km drive of Paarl GC. It has commanding views across the valley to the mountains.

Alba House and Paarl GC provide a perfect combination for a very memorable stay and golfing experience.

It is breathtaking, and a must play. Beautifully manicured, always in mint condition. My only problem is the atmosphere; even when the course was empty, the pro was pushing us to play faster, and we were playing fast. To me a course like that has to be enjoyed, but you are always looking over your shoulder to see if someone is watching you. The other issue was that the atmosphere in the clubhouse was very cold...no parties there.

All told though, best course in Southern Africa.

The last two occassions have been hugely disappointing. It really looked a bit run down...the perfection Sol Kerzner always demanded is gone. Quite frankly I am no longer bothered to make the effort.

I often visit this course, as I am not the next Tiger Woods, but enjoy the game and the people at this club A great place to visit for novices, yet a fine challenge for the low handicaps. The general friendliness of management and players is always quite remarkable. This is not a 'five star hotel' - so expectations should be in line, and the experience will be a memorable and enjoyable one. It is a private course, and the owner is 100% hands-on regarding every aspect, including arrangements for groups, corporate days and even pleasures like birthday parties or any celebrations.Night golf has been played there, and that is merely a question of arranging with the owner/manager, and a pleasant and unusual evening event is at hand. My past 2 years of being associated with the club (including the members and other casual players) as a regular visitor, has always been an absolute pleasure.

There are a couple of really great driving holes and these are complemented by some challenging par 3's. The course is best played with a 3 wood as a wild drive could lead to disaster as many of the fairways are lined with thick rough.
